Silence Dethroned

The reign of silence has finally ended!

<Cue people rejoicing>

During that long and difficult period several things happened.

Firstly, my initial attempt to dethrone her was thwarted by her loyal sorcerers who cursed me with an illness that lasted for a month. Thankfully, I prevailed. You should have seen the look on her face when I showed up again. I should have brought a camera with me. Though...a camera would have probably ruined the intimidating look that I was going for. The main downside is that I got Quills sick too. He still refuses to talk to me.

Secondly, I had the opportunity to go to the Smart Chicks Kick It tour in Montreal where I met Kelley Armstrong, Melissa Marr, Rachel Caine, Rosemary Clement-Moore, Melissa de la Cruz, Kami Garcia, and Margaret Stohl. It was fun thanks to these lovely ladies who have great senses of humor. The best part was getting a chance to talk to them during the signing. I liked that they were easy to talk to and didn't make you feel like they didn't have time to talk to you, since there were others in line. I would definitely go again. Oh, I almost forgot while I was waiting for the authors to arrive I decided to name the emcee Jean-Jacques, since I didn't know his name. I later found out his name is actually Mathieu.

Lastly, my books know how much I love books, so they decided to show me the love by dog piling on top of me. My room is flooded by books and I am currently reading five books simultaneously. I will have to finish them quickly, so the rest of my books don't feel neglected. Wow, I should win a prize for saying the word "books" five times in a single paragraph.

And that pretty much sums things up.

Quills and Ink Stains, the oh so silent blog, has finally spoken! I found him puttering about with a dazed expression on his face. After some time of attempting to convince him that I was not trying to sell him anything, he finally agreed to answer some questions about his long absence. Here's how it went:

Quills, can I call you that? Where have you been all this time?

Sure, sure Quills works, I suppose. I've been err... around.

That's not vague at all. Why the silence?

Have I been silent? I didn't notice at all.

Really, now you're being quite evasive.

Oh, fine! It's so embarrassing. There I was, completely prepared for my debut, when suddenly I was surrounded by a flurry of words. Verbs paired up with nouns, while adjectives, prepositions, and pronouns weaved in between them in an intricate dance. They mouthed something at me but I could not make it out. Thinking that they wanted me to join them, I shook my head. That would be disastrous. Nonetheless, my stubborn two left feet decided that they wanted to join the fun!

Oh dear...

Oh dear is an understatement! I ended up misplacing several dangling modifiers and causing beautiful sentences to be reduced to forlorn fragments.

Goodness, that sounds chaotic!

Oh, that's not the end of it. My left feet wanted even more attention and did not stop until the sound of my pants ripping filled the entire room. That is why I have been absent for so long. Are you satisfied now?

I'm sorry. I know it must have been mortifying but I'm sure you'll laugh about this someday.

No, I really don't think so!

Alright, I sense a need for a new subject. How about you tell everyone what they can expect to find here?

Well, there will be a lot stuff about writing.

Care to elaborate?

Sure, things like the writing process, challenges faced, and some fun tidbits.  I mean anything that has to do with writing and/or books is fair game.

Ah. Any book reviews?

No, not unless there's a book that I feel MUST be reviewed. However, I will mention books that I think are amazing and should be read by everyone.

Great, well thanks for taking the time to talk with me.

You're welcome. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must return to err.. my business.

So, that was Quills and Ink Stains. I don't envy his pants situation whatsoever. Luckily, I've never had the misfortune of experiencing it.
